Steven Blaik is an experienced and talented Australian singer/songwriter and performer. As the founding member of the ARIA nominated band Small Mercies and now as a songwriter, Blaik has dedicated over 17 years to finely crafting his songwriting skills. Driving the creative force behind the band, Blaik attracted the attention of industry giant John Woodruff (Savage Garden, Baby Animals etc). Small Mercies signed a record deal with Sony/BMG and went on to release their debut record “Beautiful Hum” in 2008.
Throughout the lifespan of the band, Blaik achieved chart success with the bands first single “Innocent”. The work received nation wide support from radio and picked up numerous highly sought-after television syncs.
After an ARIA nomination and an intensive tour of Australia and the US, the band chose to disband in 2009. Blaik explored a variety of other career paths however, after his self-imposed hiatus, he rediscovered his drive and passion for music and song writing where he then dedicated the last 5 years to this next evolution in his musical journey. Since then, Blaik has worked across various genres amidst a number of territories. His work has been placed with various artists, as far reaching as the Asian market, including Chinese super star Aaron Yang.
Blaik’s catalogue continues to rapidly grow with songs that include a wide spectrum of the popular music genre, including catchy pop songs, emotion driven ballads and commercially viable country crossover songs. He has worked extensively with hit music producer Stuart Stuart (Sheppard, The Veronicas), has co-written a number of songs with George Sheppard (Sheppard) and the highly recognised and successful country producer/ song writer Trey Bruce (Trace Adkins, Randy Travis, Trisha Yearwood and Diamond Rio).
